Grammar mistakes ✅

• ✨ DO correct all grammar mistakes. Feel free to use your spelling and grammar checker for this!
  • This includes syntactical mistakes. e.g. "je vais te montrer qu'est-ce que c'est" → "je vais te montrer ce que c'est".
  • This also includes onomatopoeias. Italicise those as you would. e.g. ”pff”, “hein”, “aie”
  • You can write colloquial language, so long as it’s grammatically correct. If you hear sentences like:
    • "Il y a quoi ?"  no need to correct to "Qu'y a-t-il ?"
    • "Tu vas où ?" no need to correct to "Où vas-tu ?"
    • "Et toi, tu t'es vu, toi ?" no need to correct to "Et toi, t'es-tu vu, toi ?"
    • "Tu as le physique de Shakira ?" no need to correct to "As-tu le physique de Shakira ?"

Clean-read

• Always write contractions (e.g. “pas” instead of “ne pas”) unless the word is said in full and the CPS is low ✅

  This means that:

  • When they say "ne pas" and the CPS is low -> "ne pas"
  • When they say "ne pas" and the CPS is high -> "pas"
  • When they say "pas" and the CPS is low -> "pas"
  • When they say "pas" and the CPS is high -> "pas"

• Please DO include filler words like "tu vois", "en fait", "alors", "donc", but do not include false starts (sentences that the speaker restarts).

  • If two or more filler words are said, include them all. e.g. “Donc du coup”, “Par exemple et alors”…
  • You do not need to include interjections.

CPL, CPS, lines

• Subtitles must not exceed 30 characters per line (CPL).
• ✨ You can stretch the capsules to the right ➡️ by up to 0.5 seconds after the speech ends to improve the CPS, so long as it doesn't delay the next capsule.
• Max 2 lines per capsule.
• Avoid lines with just 1 word on them, unless the sentence or answer is only 1 word.

Tags

• Transcribe as many English words as possible, including brands, words, slang, etc. Do not use quotation marks or foreign language tags. Do use italics.
• ✨ Do use the [chant] tag when needed, but do not use the time codes.
• Do not use the [diaphonie] tag and the [inaudible] tag. Try to make sense of the words and leave the tags out. If you cannot figure it out, leave those words uncaptioned. If the sentence doesn't make sense, re-structure it or if there's no other way, leave it out altogether.

Other things

• Copy any subtitles that already appear in the video. If the subtitles are a translation of foreign language, copy those embedded French subtitles.
• Use hyphens whenever there is a change in speaker. Only use 2 hyphens in one capsule if there are 2 changes in speaker.
