How to stay active at Happy Scribe?

You might be wondering what data we use to keep track of our beloved scribe community and to assess how active scribes are.

After all, this affects:

Our assessment of available scribes for future projects.
Our decisions to hire new scribes for specific languages.
Our decisions to suspend scribes who do not seem to take any further interest in being a part of the community.

However, each scribe is different and has a different workflow and availability to spare— additionally, their language demand and seasonality can influence their activity a lot, and this is all out of their control. These things are taken into account when assessing how active our community is. As such, we try not to be too critical when evaluating scribe activity or taking decisions based off it.

To keep things simple, here is an overview that we use to decide whether scribes are still active with us.

<aside> 🗓️ Note: when we refer to months in this article, we always mean precisely 30 days. This means that staying active in February means the same as staying active in March.

Please note that this means that any scribe that has not worked on a file for 4 months or more is automatically considered as no longer active, regardless of when they checked the dashboard.

What does this mean for keeping the community together?

We never suspend scribes that are considered active by the metrics above, unless it is for another reason.
We might suspend scribes that are considered semi-active by the metrics above, but they will receive a warning email first and it depends on various factors.
We may unfortunately suspend scribes that are considered inactive **by the metrics above, unless their absence was communicated prior.
