The merge segment you’re completing contains less than 20% transcribable speech. The rest is either song, inaudible speech, a foreign language, or no noise at all. You can’t fail it because you don’t want to fail the whole merge gig, and you’re not sure whether those files are workable or not.

Solution ✅

It indeed could be that the other segments do contain a lot more speech and that, altogether, the whole (re-merged) file will contain more than 20% speech. The merge segment in your case should just be skipped.

Solution: let an admin know.

1. If an admin responds in time, continue with their suggestions. If you think you won’t have much time to wait for their answer, → report the gig as unworkable.
2. If not: ask around on Discord if other segments are the same.
   1. If other scribes respond saying all of their files are also supposed to be failed, → report the gig as unworkable.
   2. If the scribes say their parts are workable, continue with your part and → submit it. Inform an Admin as soon as you can if you haven’t yet (we will compensate you a small amount). Also inform the channel of the segment so that the merger is aware.
   3. If the scribes do not respond → submit it. Inform an admin as soon as you can if you haven’t yet. They will re-establish your pay (we will compensate you a small amount). Also inform the channel of the segment so that the merger is aware.

Any other issues? Let an admin know as well, or ask on Discord who the merger is for the file.

It is not allowed to submit a non-transcribable file without immediately notifying an admin. If you do, this can lead to your suspension.
