What is speaker labelling for dubbing?

Speaker labelling for dubbing is a specific service level of transcription which requires very accurate and consistent speaker labelling to be recognized by an AI-dubbing engine.

Once a speaker is identified, the label must be spelled and formatted in the exact same way throughout the different files for the same project. Please reference any supporting documentation and the credits appearing in the video.

If the speaker label is spelled or formatted differently for the same identified speaker, the engine will recognize this as a different speaker which will then be inaccurate.

Formatting

When formatting titles please apply the following: Mr. Mrs. Ms.

Please do not use any of the below: Mr Mr., Ms., Ms Mrs., Mrs

Character naming and spelling

Naming of characters should be taken from the credits as specified in the [speaker] files section.

• Sometimes, people speak a different language to the main source. These parts need to be translated, not tagged.

Please use the English subtitle files of these movies + shows which are provided via the links in the style guide pop-ups.

Then, label the speakers according to the [speakers] guidelines below:

• Please include the speakers names from the audio/video (you can check the credits of the show/film for reference) including their gender: Linda, female, Timmy, male, Mr. Gordon, male, Mrs. Drake, female, Commentator, male, Narrator, female
• If it’s not possible to identify the name of the speaker, please make sure to label with the gender and separate speakers by numbers as follows: Female 1, Female 2, Female 3, Male 1, Male 2, Male 3
• If it’s not possible to identify the gender of the speaker, please make sure to label with the name only as follows: Linda, Timmy, Mr. Gordon, Mrs. Drake, Commentator, Narrator

Dateline + World Poker Tour specific instructions

• Please follow the scripts and support documentation provided for each show following the links in the style guide pop-up.
• Please add both first and second names of the speakers in all instances.
• Please never apply ‘Narrator’ when referring to the host. Please check the name of the host to be applied.
