You’ve already read in the Setting things up section that the files you work on are referred to as “gigs”. That’s because a file does not necessarily equal what you’ll work on.
Every row on your dashboard can be filled by a gig. A gig is a task. Often, it’s synonymous with a file, but not always— because we also review our files and we also split them up.
Earlier you saw these 3 service types. These are the things our clients order. We also call them order types.

The things that you, the scribe work on, are called gigs. Some gigs are synonymous with orders. In that case we’d refer to them as “standard gigs”.

There’s two principal ways in which 1 single customer order consists of multiple different gigs: reviews and split/merged segments.
We periodically (or consistently, for new joiners) review files to make sure that the quality standards are met. In that case we review the original gig. Both are the same file and technically you should do the same thing— which is make it customer ready.

What to know about reviews:
Aside from reviews, we also split files if they are large enough. Files are only split for our top transcription and subtitle languages, which are English, French and Spanish.
Although you’re probably not going to work on segmented gigs, it’s important to be familiar with the concept to understand our platform better.
